• About the course:
The University of Mumbai has deemed the bachelors in mass media course as a Credit Based Semester and Grading System with effect from the academic year 2011-12 for First Year, 2012-13 for Second Year and 2013-14 for Third Year. Keeping in mind the pertinent goal of balancing theoretical knowledge with practical experience and exposure, the examinations which will now be a un...iversity adjudicated exam under the able supervision of the respective colleges running the course of BMM.


• Credit System

Before getting into the contents/subjects, it is vital to understand the fact that BMM (Bachelors in Mass Media) is a professional media course that aims to give a full rounded development to every student who opts to go for with a specific career goal in mind.

Hence the university has divided the examination of every student into two parts i.e. Internal Assessment includes Assignments, Seminars, Case Studies and Unit Tests which will be of 40 marks and the Semester end examinations comprising of 60 marks.

They have a chance at either refining their already honed skills through another degree in India and abroad as well. Apart from this campus placement gives students that much more of an incentive to showcase their skills and talent that can be well judged and utilized by companies who come a calling for interviews on campus or through internship programmes that take place through the academic year.

Miscellaneous Activities for academic year 2011-2012:

• First yearORIENTATION: Activities to help build teamwork were part of the plan S.Y. students who were organizing the whole orientation for FY BMM had along with help from Final year students too (TY BMM)

• MOVIE SCREENING: Khuda Ke Liye, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron & Rann

• WORKSHOPS: Zee Institute of Media & Arts (ZIMA) conducted a successful workshop for our students and gave them working knowledge of Television news and practical insight into the production techniques pertaining to News exclusively.

• TRIPS TO MEDIA CENTERS: Students got a chance to be on Sets and experience Indian Reality Television by being On air for Indian Idol SEASON. In addition they also went live on the sets of ' KBC' as part of a media trip to SONY TV. Seminar at Saraf College was held where FY BMM were introduced to today’s contemporary issues on various modern media.

• VF Initiatives: Manisha Sayani as part of our Visiting Faculty was generous to organize a workshop conducted (FY, SY ,TY)

• Adobe Premier Pro Workshop by another one of our VF Rohit Bharti (who also works for RADIO MIRCHI) was held for the benefit of students

• IV 2012: This year we as part of BMM Department got an opportunity to tour Agra and Jaipur. Among travel and sightseeing we also got an opportunity to visit the local RED FM Channel in Jaipur as well as the printing press at DAINIK BHASKARr.

• SELF DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS on overall development of personality and communication were held from time to time to help students understand skills vital to adapt before they enter the working atmosphere post BMM. Workshops on Psyche of the mind, emotional development and facial expressions, women oriented issues like POND’S
